2025 Season Details

Please review Howland's Code of Conduct, listed below.  We want to remind everyone that all members of the HAC are volunteers, working hard to provide a great experience for your children.  Coaches should be dedicated to teaching children valuable life lessons and helping them develop a love of sports and team - not trying to win games.  We continue to struggle to find umpires for games for a variety of reasons, but please refrain from yelling negative comments at games.  Children are expected to treat each other with respect during all events and we enforce a strict no bullying policy.  Please review our Code of Conduct and take just a minute to sit down with your children to review the expectations of the 2025 season.
HAC Code of Conduct

Player evaluation were held on Saturday, March 1st and drafts will be held the week of March 3rd.  Once drafts have been completed, your child's coach will reach out to introduce themselves and provide further details.  Practices officially begin April 1st with games starting the week of April 27th in most cases.  Some leagues that play in the Trumbull county 304 league may begin games earlier than April 27th.  Schedules for all leagues will be completed sometime in April and will be shared with each team.  Uniforms and yard signs should be handed out at practices the week before games begin.  Please note, all fees must be paid in full for players to receive their uniforms.  The Ceremonial Parade is tentative scheduled for Saturday, April 26th or Saturday, May 3rd, details to follow once finalized.

If you signed up to volunteer as an assistant coach or scorekeeper, your head coach will reach out to you shortly.  To participate, YOU MUST COMPLETE A BACKGROUND CHECK before practices begin.  You will receive an email invitation to complete required information for the background check.  This is an annual requirement for all volunteers.

HAC holds a 'work day' each spring to prepare the complex and fields for the upcoming season.  We encourage your participation in this event, as there is so much to do each year.  As a reminder, all field work is completed by very dedicated volunteers who work tirelessly to ensure the best playing conditions for your children.  They try very hard to keep fields open but sometimes mother nature does not agree.  Keep this in mind during your season.

As stated earlier, uniforms will be distributed likely the week before your games begin.  All work is again completed by volunteers who spend countless hours trying to ensure the accuracy of everyone's order.  Please be patient if there was a mistake, HAC will do everything we can to correct the mistake.  Each softball player will receive a jersey and socks while baseball players receive a jersey and hat.  ONLY TEE BALL, INTERNATIONAL SOFTBALL AND PINTO PLAYERS ARE PROVIDED WITH PANTS AND SOCKS.  If you need to purchase equipment, HAC hosts a shopping weekend March 21 to March 24 at Dick's Sporting Goods in Niles.  You can find a 20% off coupon on the website, which is not limited to only softball and baseball items.  This is a great time to stock up, as there are saving for you but also proceeds from the sale are donated back to HAC by Dick's.
